    • Synopsis
    • In the lead-up to Art Dubai, the middle east’s massive annual art fair, there is an Artists in Residence (AiR) program, which brings together three emerging Emirati artists with three established international artists and a curator-in-residence for an intensive period of collaborative work and exchange.
Through the AiR program, this documentary explores the growing art scene in the Arabian Gulf region. Our other key them is the influence of place upon art. We follow the artists starting in their home countries where they imagine Dubai and its potential influences on their art, then through the process of their multi-disciplinary creations, until the exhibitions at the end of the residency.
The six artists featured in this year’s program are: Ebtisam Abdulaziz, Reem Falaknaz, Ammar al Attar, Joe Namy, Dina Danish, and Yudi Noor, working alongside curator Bérénice Saliou.
Production took place in London, Amsterdam, and Beirut before three months of close documentation within the premises of Al Fahidi (previously Al Bastakiya) in the UAE, the spectacular heritage area of Dubai with its famous wind-towers and courtyards.
