In small villages in northern Thailand, the rainy season begins and two farming families set out to live their lives through two worlds. The first is the rice paddies deliberately isolated from civilization. The other is their own homes. They have to live and work in these two worlds through the cycle of rice farming as season changes, from the time when the skies pour heavy rain to the time when the wind blows wildly in winter and when drought sets in after the harvest season. The relationship of these two separates is at once complex and simple, mysterious and mundane, and we are watching it being unfolded.
