    • Synopsis
    • Serginho, 15 years old, is seeking out a place for himself in a world which has forced him to grow up before his time. Circumstances have made him the man of the house, responsible for his mother and younger brother but what Serginho would really like would be to rest his head on his father’s lap and have him dry his hair.

Serginho is quiet and hardly ever speaks. When he does, what one hears through his voice is absence. Not only the absence of the father, who abandoned his wife and children taking everything with him, even the gas bottle, but also the absence of the mother, drained by alcohol, distant, even when her presence is palpable. In a moment of transition, he now feels this lack of real love, job prospects, affection. Serginho struggles to supplement so many absences. And he nearly succeeds. Nearly.

There is a moment when everything spills out, overflows. Serginho wants more. He wants more of his dumb friend who, like him, hardly speaks. He wants more of Silvinha, the girl from the fish stall. He wants more of his mother, his father, his boss. He wants more of Professor Ney, a client who has come to be a confidante, a desire. Serginho wants a future.
