    • Synopsis
    • West Texas Badlands, 1852. Amidst the desolate landscape of the family ranch, twelve-year-old Abigail watches helplessly as her father, Jacob, is lynched by an unruly gang of outlaws, led by the sadistic, Byrne. Abigail’s mother, Maria, a Comanche medicine woman, has been forced to flee to safety of her brother-in-laws, leaving Abigail alone with the burning homestead and the hanging corpse of her father.
As darkness falls and the clouds role in, Abigail retreats to the smoldering meat shed. As she sleeps a strange wind whispers through the scene. Jacob’s body begins to twitch. His eyes burst open. He pulls out a knife that had been buried in his chest and cuts himself down from his noose. Unable to talk and his body slowly rotting away, the resurrected Jacob tries to get Abigail to the safety of her mother, but on arrival finds his brother and wife have been slaughtered by Byrne’s men. A fight ensues and Byrne’s henchman, Caslon, succeeds in abducting Abigail, as Jacob mutilates his accomplice.
Caslon brings Abigail to Byrne and tells of the demon Jacob that now walks the plains. Noconi, a Comanche member of the posse, questions Abigail about her father and whether she knows of his past. Abigail defends him, but soon discovers that his history is one of violence, including the slaughter of Comanche’s and the kidnap of her own mother. Jacob was cursed by the Comanche, so that the spirit of every man and woman he has ever killed would trap his soul within his rotting body. He now carries those spirits with him as he searches for Abigail and they torment his mind.
So begins Jacob’s quest to rescue his daughter and in turn, Abigail’s journey to discover who her father was. She soon finds that The Colonel, a corrupt official, ordered her father’s assassination and she is to be delivered to him for a bounty, however, none of her captors can shed any light on his intentions for the child. As war with Mexico looms and law and order disintegrates, Abigail discovers that no one can be trusted and she must learn to rely on herself if she is to survive, escape the hands of the The Colonel and release her father from the curse to free his tormented soul.
