      THE KILLER TRAIN
      based on a true story
Naples, 1944. The city has been liberated, but hunger, violence, and corruption are everywhere, just like Kabul, or Baghdad today. War is never over. Nino, an outlaw who wants to become a mafia boss, Joe, a corrupt sergeant of Italian origin, Alfredo, a giant, a boxer with boxing in his blood. They are friends and partners in crime. They came out of the slums and want to get to the top. They want it all, and they're stealing what in Naples is the Allies' most valuable asset: penicillin. Nino is the leader of a criminal gang who corrupts the military leaders of the AMG. He becomes the sworn enemy of the most powerful clan, assembles an army of misfits to run the black market. Penicillin is "the white gold", like cocaine, that saves lives. Nino manages to sell it aboard a train that travels from Naples to the Calabria region, in Southern Italy. In a desperate city, terror-stricken by the Vesuvius erupting, where everything is bought and everything has a price, one man, an incorruptible American lieutenant, doesn't surrender to the new King of Naples. The inevitable showdown happens the night of March 3rd aboard train # 8017, trapped inside a tunnel called "Tunnel of War", near the town of Balvano. That night more than six hundred people die of gas poison.
Two days later, with a briefing of only six lines, The New York Times reports the news of the most incredible and forgotten railroad massacre in history.
