    • Synopsis
    • Twelve-year-old Marco Donati is the youngest of three Italian-Canadian boys living in Stoney Creek, Ontario. He’s shy and introverted, which makes him the target of his loud, over-confident older brothers, and avoided by the other neighbourhood kids.

Slađana Radić is tough-as-nails and she resents the fact that her Serbian immigrant parents force her to learn how to cook and sew, and they expect her to play the part of a dutiful Serbian daughter. Slađana would prefer to be out on the street playing road hockey, but none of the neighbourhood boys want to play with a girl.

One day, Luc Bouchard and his father move from Montreal to Stoney Creek and settle into the house next door to the Donati family. The Bouchard’s are still trying to adjust to the loss of Luc’s mother to cancer, and they’ve moved to be closer to Mr. Bouchard’s brother. Luc, who is extremely outgoing and a hockey fanatic, quickly befriends both Marco and Slađana.
Together, these outsiders learn the power of friendship, teamwork, and belonging during the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union.
