Description

Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI) is the premier institution in Taiwan dedicated to preserving the nation’s audiovisual heritage. With a mission to preserve, restore, research, and promote Taiwan's audiovisual assets, TFAI ensures that these invaluable resources are accessible to the public. As a member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), TFAI has a distinguished history of over 46 years, previously known as the Taiwan Film Institute (TFI).

Objective

TFAI's extensive vaults house around 20,000 film prints and 500,000 audiovisual materials. Since 2008, TFAI has excelled in film preservation and digital restoration, achieving high-res digital scans of 805 titles, 63 collaborative restoration, and 24 in-house restoration. TFAI remains at the forefront of safeguarding Taiwan's audiovisual heritage and memory through state-of-the-art restoration and preservation techniques.
