Objective

The National Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts –INCAA- is a public but non governmental institution created in 1933 under the denomination of Cinematographic Argentine Institute (Instituto Cinematográfico Argentino), and in its beginnings its unique function was to perform a direct control over all cinematographic matters. Since that time to the present, the functions and aims to be performed by INCAA have changed and nowadays the Institute completely fulfills the mission lately assigned to it by the Law for the Promotion and Regulation of the Cinematographic Activity issued in 1994 which is known in Argentina simply as the “Cinema Law”. From that year on, INCAA is the principal and ruling agency for audiovisual issues in the country, and its main purpose is to promote cinematographic production through the granting of subsidies, credits, contests and co-production funds. It also works vehemently for the diffusion of Argentine Cinema, in domestic and international markets, accompanying filmmakers and their movies. The Institute generates and performs its strategies and different plans for the international diffusion of our cinema. It does so by supporting Argentine cinema abroad, in shows, exhibitions, festivals and markets, and promoting co-production , co-distribution and cooperation (for reciprocal assistance) agreements with the aim of producing more and better projects.
