Description

THE NEW GREEK AMERICANS 1960-2018 begins with the 60's embracing these changing times despite conservative upbringings. Each decade influences Greek American communities with events such as the Civil Rights Movement, Invasion of Cyprus, and the nomination of Michael S. Dukakis for President of the United States. Heartfelt and humorous stories of the 2nd and 3rd generations are shared reflecting "Growing up Greek."  Can the Greek culture survive in America? Olympia Dukakis hosts and narrates.

Objective

The Greek Heritage Society of Southern California (GHS) is a non profit organization established to promote Hellenism by recording Oral histories and archiving photographs and private footage of the Greek community in southern California. Through the collection of Oral histories over several years, GHS has produced three documentary features. The goal is to reach as many Greeks in diaspora through Film Festivals, private screenings, media broadcast, and online and dvd sales.
