Description
Film Forum is a 4-screen independent cinema in downtown New York City, open 365 days a year, with 275,000 annual admissions, 7000 members and a $5 million operating budget. We present NYC theatrical premieres of intl art films, American independents and documentaries. Our repertory selections include new and restored prints of intl & American classics, genre works, festivals and directors' retrospectives. Film Forum reopened on April 2, '21,and, since June 18, is operating at 100% capacity.
Objective
As a cinema of ideas, Film Forum is committed to presenting an international array of films that treat diverse social, political, historical and cultural realities. Unlike commercial cinemas that primarily “book” high-grossing, Hollywood films, Film Forum’s programs are thoughtfully curated, with attention to unique cinematic qualities, historical importance individually or within a genre and, particularly for documentaries, relevance to today’s world.
