Founded in 2002, Bartlebyfilm is a Rome based film production company which creates, develops and produces feature films, documentaries, short films and tv series. Bartlebyfilm's first work is the montage film "Un’ora sola ti vorrei" (One Hour More With You) by Alina Marazzi, awarded at many national and international festivals such as Locarno Festival and Torino Film Festival; "Sandra. Ritratto confidenziale" (Sandra. A Private Portrait) and "Margherita. Ritratto confidenziale" (Margherita. A Private Portrait) both directed by Giuseppe Piccioni and presented at the Venice Festival, respectively in 2002 and in 2003. In 2009 it produces the short film "Spighe" by Laura Chiossone and in 2012 Bartlebyfilm presents at the Venice Film Festival, in the "Controcampo Italiano" section, "Qualche nuvola" (Scattered Clouds) by Saverio Di Biagio, produced together with Minollo Film and Relief. In 2013 it produces the short film "Non è successo niente" (Nothing Happened) by Chantal Toesca, selected for the Nastri D’argento and for the David di Donatello, and in 2016 "A metà luce", directed by Anna Gigante, that gets the nomination to the David di Donatello as best short film. In 2016 Bartlebyfilm executive-produces for Cattleya the movies "Qualcosa di nuovo" (Something New) by Cristina Comencini and "Non c'è più religione" by Luca Miniero. In 2017/2018 it executive-produces for Lucky Red "La befana vien di notte" directed by Michele Soavi. In 2017 Bartlebyfilm presents in competition at the Locarno Film Festival, in the section Cineasti del Presente, the feature film "Easy - Un viaggio facile facile" (Easy) by Andrea Magnani, produced together with Pilgrim Film (Italy) and Fresh Production (Ukraine) and distributed by Tucker Film. In the same year it presents, as special event at the Venice Film Festival, "Casa d’altri", the short film by Gianni Amelio devoted to the town of Amatrice. Also in 2017, the series "Suburra" is produced for Netflix by Cattleya in association with Rai Fiction and Bartlebyfilm. Bartlebyfilm is currently working at the development and preparation of several projects including the feature film by Marco Chiarini "La supergiostra" (The Golden Carousel), which got the development fund of the Italian Ministry of Culture and Creative Europe Development Fund, and the short film "Politeama" by Gianni Amelio.
