AFI was founded in 1967 as a national arts organization to preserve the legacy of America’s film heritage, educate the next generation of filmmakers and honor the artists and their work. AFI Silver Theatre in Washington, DC screens 600+ films a year – first-run engagements, retrospectives, series and festivals – including the AFI Latin American Film Festival and the AFI European Union Film Showcase.
