With the Premium option, you pay an upfront fee one-time fee (17€ for standard and 35€ for full HD) for unlimited storage and use.

For more information about basic and premium options, click here.

How secure is Cinando?

Making your screener safe is our priority. Access to Cinando is restricted to film industry professionals. The Cinando team regularly updates the Cinando database and pays particular attention to the eligibility of its members and potential subscribers. When you choose to upload a film onto Cinando, you maintain total control of the screener. From visibility to the viewing rights and more, you choose who is allowed to watch your films among the Cinando community: distributors, sales agents, festivals, all members, or by invitation only. In addition, you can hide your film at any time as well as send personal invitations, even to non-Cinando members. You can also restrict access more precisely with geo-blocking (restrict access only to countries where the film rights are available in your film page).

...and that's not all! To make sure your screeners are absolutely secure, we employ the safest technologies. With the Basic option, we employ the pure streaming technology (unlike Vimeo) to make sure the screener file is never downloaded into the cache of viewers’ computers which means that one cannot obtain the file. With the Premium option, your files are protected by cutting-edge DRM security. Moreover, each film is protected by a non-removable individual watermark.

How do I upload a screener on my Company’s account?

Step 1: Remember that before uploading your screener you have to create a film page, fill all the required information and add a landscape and portrait photo. In order to do this, open the dropdown menu on the upper right side of your screen and click on ‘Company’ to access ‘your ‘My Data’. There click on ‘Films’ > +Add a New Film. Once your film page is set, you are ready to upload the screener.

Step 2: There are 2 ways to upload a screener:

  1. In your film page, click on ‘+Add’ next to the Screener section in the ‘Media’ box.

  2. In ‘My Data’, you can also go to ‘Screeners’ and select ‘Screener Manager’. There you can enter your film title in the search field and click on ‘+Upload screener’.

Step 3: Choose between Basic and Premium upload. Once you get on the upload page, click on ‘Browse’ and select your file to start the upload. The upload should not take more than a few hours. You will see the progress bar. Once the bar reaches 100%, a message will appear informing you that you can leave this tab. At that point, the file will go to encoding for a few hours and you will receive an email informing about the film being available online once the encoding is processed.

Step 4: Once the encoding is done, you will have to check and validate the screener. In order to validate the screener, click on the link you have received in the email you have received or log in to Cinando or go to ‘My Data’ > ‘Screener Manager’ and click on the edit pen icon next to the screener. Once you are on the screener page, check the film quality (image, sound, duration, english subtitles, end credits). If everything looks fine, click on ‘Validate’.

Step 5: Once you have validated your screener, please make sure to set the viewing rights for your screener (on the left-hand side of the screener page). Here are the options from which you can choose from:

  1. Grant direct access to the categories of users of your choosing (approved distributors, approved sales agents, approved festivals, Europa cinema members or All Cinando members).

  2. Choose ‘Invitations requests allowed’ if you allow Cinando users to send you a request to watch your film which you can either accept or decline.

  3. Select the box ‘Geo-blocking option’ if you wish to restrict access only to countries where the film is available (based on the countries you select as available when updating the film page).

  4. You can also hide the film from all Cinando users. You will still be able to send out individual invitations to people of your choosing, and they will be the only ones who can access the screener.

What are the technical requirements to upload a screener?

You can only upload a digital file.

Accepted formats: mp[e]g, avi, vob, mov, mp4

File size < 5 GB

Encoding: resolution 720x480 or better - bitrate > 2MBit/s - 48kHz sound AC-3 / AAC / FLAC / MP2 (> 128 kBit/s)

Video Codecs: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC / MJPEG / MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 / QuickTime Graphics

Multiplexed files only (audio and video in one file)

No anamorphic material (file has to be 4:3 or 16:9 originally)

For best encoding results, we recommend: .mp(e)g file format with MPEG 2 video codec or H.264/MPEG-4 codec for best quality.

How do I set viewing rights for my screener?

In order to set viewing rights for your screener, go to ‘My Data’ > ‘Screener Manager’ and click on the edit pen icon next to the screener. Here are the options from which you can choose from:
