    • Synopsis
    • Tomás, a 17 year old who lives with his mother, finds out that Valentina, his girlfriend, is pregnant.
On a clandestine abortion clinic’s consultory, they hear the child’s heartbeat for the first time. Together, despite the infinite number of reasons there are for them to choose the opposite, they decide to keep the baby.
Starting to deal with everything that this decision implies, Tomás begins to experience a growing anxiety that he doesn’t know how to handle. In his closet, he looks for and finds an old picture of his mother when she was young. On the back of the picture, written in black ink: “The Mirrors, 1997”.
After a hard fight with Valentina that leaves everything in suspense, Tomás picks up his things, and leaves town hitchhicking to The Mirrors, a small coast town where he finds Camilo, a 36 year old man that lives with his wife and 4 year old son, and fixes boats for a living. With difficulty, he manages to get accepted by Camilo as a helper in the workshop. The silent relationship between Tomás and Camilo advances until Camilo acknowledges that Tomás is, in fact, his son.
Sitting in front of each other, the years of silence between them will make them struggle to find the words to express their feelings, and they will have to find a way to finally communicate, make peace with the past, and try to build together a new beginning.
