This is a screen version of 'The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years' novel by Chingiz Aitmatov, a great writer of the present. The movie is based on real events that were going on in Central Asia in XIX century. Bellicose tribes of Manchurian natives have conquered the Great Steppe. A young warrior and his beloved are taken prisoners. The invaders have deprived the warrior of memory and turned him into a mancurt, a zombie. The girl escaped. In the wild prairie she's undergoing a terrible ordeal but doesn't loose hope for bring her lover back to native country.
