    • Synopsis
    • At the mysterious Lake Biwa there is a tribe who inherit a very strange power
In the town of Iwabashi, on the shores of Lake Biwa, is a group of people who inherit a very strange power.
For centuries the Hinode family have lived in Iwabashi Castle; they are the only family in the Japan who still lives in such a place.
The present scion of the family, the possesser of the highest degree of this power, is a high-school student, Tanjuro. The townsfolk worship him for this power, and to them he is a ‘king of kings’, an absolute feudal lord.
From a cadet branch of the Hinode family comes Ryosuke, who moves into the town and registers at the high school in order that he may follow the laws of the family and be trained in the power. Arriving in Iwabashi, he is surprised at the extent of Hinode family control there. Moving in to live rent-free in the castle, he encounters one disconcerting thing after another. Tanjuro’s elder sister, known as ‘The Great Kiyoko’, has very unusual powers and rides a white horse around the castle grounds, and goes to school in a boat rowed by Genjiro. Tanjuro has Ryosuke dress in an haut couture red uniform identical to his, and treats him as his feudal lord’s ‘attendant’.
Quickly the two fall into a ‘lord and master’ relationship. Then one day Tanjuro falls for Satsuki Hayami, daughter of the school principal. Unfortunately, she is in love with a classmate, Hirumi Natsume. Tanjuro is seriously put out, not the least because the House of Natsume also inherits the power, and for 1300 years the two families have been rivals.
The fate of these two families thus entwined, Tanjuro’s minor disappointment in love serves as the spark of a giant conflagration that will draw in the entire history of the town.
No one suspects, though, that it will also mean the end of the world.
