- Synopsis
- Aureliano, son of Elías, is predestined, the same as his brothers, to die prematurely as a result of a divine punishment for a sin committed by his father.
  He lived throughout his childhood confined because of a disease and Elias’s fear, who believes he will be the first to die.
  Aureliano paints the family history in altarpieces, and the plot gradually unravels through the father’s narration.
  Until then, he realizes why they are forced to live in the desert, apart from the civilization. He also builds a church to gain God’s forgiveness and starts a love affair with his sister Micaela. This event gives a whole new meaning to his life.
