    • Synopsis
    • Summer 2006: Israel and Lebanon are at war. In an Arab-Israeli village near Lebanon, a Palestinian family is absorbed in its own personal battles. Abu Majd, the father a widower of 17 years, is slowly dying and can no longer keep up with his children’s lives–or their secrets. Hajar, a rebel by nature, is in love with a North American. Marwan, is married to Salma, but he’s a closeted homsexual. Ahmad, married with three children, is an ill-tempered lawyer and aspiring politician. Zeinab, the eldest daughter and “mother,” married an uneducated man, Khalil, but never had children of her own. Majd, the first-born son, is a hard-working and responsible man but faces moral quandaries as his business fails and he plans his eldest daugher’s wedding. That celebration does unite the family but it also reveals their respective secrets, turning private tensions into open conflicts. As Abu Majd dies, his children try to settle their disputes…but some wars have no clear and simple end.
