- Synopsis
- Lulu and Bailong, a young unmarried couple living off her nightly job as a dancer, want a better life for their infant son— and themselves. One night, after work, Lulu is locked out of her apartment with no trace of her family. She goes looking for them and tracks down Sunny, a drag singer who lives and performs in a bar known as The Night Cat. Fearing that Lulu will turn Bailong over to the police, Sunny makes a deal with her: he will help find them in exchange for letting Bailong go. In the oppressive heat, Sunny and Lulu set out on an overnight journey across southern China in search of her child, but emotions run high as Lulu takes matters into her own hands and everyone’s secrets are exposed.
