- Synopsis
- Hu Bayi would never know who he was if he hadn’t been to Kunlun Mountains.
  
  In 1979 near the Kunlun Mountains, unidentified bones of some ancient creatures are discovered in a cavern. An explosion follows short after the discovery.
  
  A group of volunteers arrive to investigate the case. Bayi, a young soldier, and Yang Ping, a nurse, are amongst the group. The mission turns out to be very dangerous and in the course of the investigation, members are killed and Bayi has slowly fallen for Yang Ping. Following the clues along the trail, Bayi and Yang Ping reach the Demon Pagoda, a temple created by the aliens. He is almost killed by a fatal bite from a fire bat and was devastated that Yang Ping did not survive during the attack. The mission ends and Bayi returns to Beijing.
  
  Bayi continues his research about the Demon Pagoda and he finds himself protected by a secret organization. A few years later, he unexpectedly hears that Yang Ping is still alive. Bayi sets off to the desert once again in the hope of finding Yang Ping.
  
  Bayi meets Yang Ping again however she is no longer the person she was, being possessed by the Lord of Demon Pagoda. She has the pernicious power to command the man bears, an ancient monster, to destroy anything against her will. When making the most difficult decision in his life, Bayi learns about his true identity….
