    • Synopsis
    • Baby(a)lone is not set in a dehumanised world of slums and crushing poverty; or indeed in far away warm and exotic locations. This story takes place in the very heart of an affluent, contemporary Europe. In a quintessential western society which often claims to uphold the protection of its children - the future generation - as its laudable objective.

However, things are not what they seem: X and Shirley are 13 years of age; yet they are already familiar with violence, drugs and pornography. They are being exposed to these at school and on a daily basis.

This young girl and boy, who proceed to forge a unique partnership, have lost all hope as they have been forced to grow up too soon and too violently. Loneliness, fear and pain are easier to bear when shared with someone who has experienced and seen what you have seen. Such a person might even be able to understand you?

Throughout this intense and psychologically intriguing film, these two pre-teens will seek to define themselves, find the love which they desperately crave and create for themselves a world of hope and make belief. Their violent journey of self-discovery is punctuated by heart warming moments of previously not experienced joy and happiness.
