Founded in 1946, the ICA seeks to embrace the urgency surrounding contemporary art and culture. Continually looking forward, the ICA lays claim to an extraordinary legacy as well as playing a pivotal role in the development of Pop Art, Op Art and Brutalist Architecture, charted the course of Punk. ICA CINEMA foregrounds emerging voices and supports pioneering visions of filmmakers and film collectives from the very best of independent world cinema.
ICA CINEMA is, as many outlets around, in a state of transition as to adapt to a transformd post-Covid UK market. ICA's distribution branch considers radical and genre-defying works both from the past and present, as to act as representative of films that would not reach UK screens otherwise. In October 2023, ICA Cinema launched Off-Circuit - an ongoing series platforming undistributed films and facilitaing bookings in other venues across the UK and Ireland.
